2024 New Year Resolutions: Suggestions for Polyglots

2024 NY Resolutions

My Polyglot Friends and Followers,

I wish you an excellent 2024. In the new year, I will try to bring you a new article each day. As I would like these to be useful to you, please DM me with your suggestions. Today's topic is languages.

In fact, most of my friends and followers are already "polyglots". Whenever I have met you, virtually or in person, I have appreciated your fluency in two or more languages. So, I am hoping today's article assists you with your 2024 New Year Resolutions. What should we learn?

Here's a quirky guide for the linguistically inclined folks, infused with a dash of wit for the brainiacs in the room. Firstly, Mandarin and Hindi are like the James Bonds of languages - suave, sophisticated, and globally recognised. Learning them won't make you a spy, but it might help you bridge cultural gaps with the folk from the two juggernaut countries, China and India. Don't worry, nobody expects you to master them overnight; a few key phrases might just earn you an appreciative nod or two.

Now, let's talk tech, because who doesn't want to be the coding prodigy of 2024? Rust is the enigmatic language of the future - it's like the Elon Musk of programming, bold, ambitious, and set to redefine how we build software. If you're aiming for the cutting edge, Rust is your spaceship to the stars.

On the flip side, we have Python, the friendly neighbourhood superhero of programming. It's the language of today, making things happen with a grin and a cup of coffee. Python is the guy who effortlessly tackles everyday problems, from web development to data analysis, like a seasoned pro.

So, as you contemplate your linguistic destiny for 2024, remember this: Mandarin and Hindi are your worldly passports, Rust is your ticket to the technological utopia of tomorrow, and Python is your trusty sidekick for the challenges of today.

If your particular interest is in scientific programming, have a look at Julia, and if you are into blockchains, perhaps Solidity may pique your interest. Both Julia and Solidity are similar to Python, so again, a foundation in Python is never wasted.

Choose wisely, my polyglot friends, and may your new year be filled with syntax perfection, cultural revelations and simply the joy of learning something new!

Thank you! Merci! Danke! Grazie! ???????! ??!

Santosh Pandit
